AI Readiness Assessment

Most AI assessments focus on models. Ours focuses on what actually makes AI work in your business: trusted data, sound governance, and a roadmap to success.

Nearly every company is pursuing AI, but most are simply not ready to implement it. Before your organization commits to a platform, builds a pilot, or hires for AI roles, you need an honest picture of where you actually stand, across people, processes, and technology.

Athena's AI Readiness Assessment gives you that picture in as little as three to four weeks, at a fixed cost, with a clear deliverable. No internal AI team is required to get started.

Who This Is For

The AI Readiness Assessment is built for mid-sized and growth-stage companies in retail, logistics, healthcare, insurance, financial services, and manufacturing that see AI's potential but aren't sure where to start. We typically work with organizations that:

  • Have limited internal AI or data science capability
  • Are dealing with fragmented, inconsistent, or low-trust data
  • Want to know where AI can deliver real efficiency or insight — not just where it's trendy
  • Need a defined scope and fixed cost before committing to a larger investment

If you're AI-curious but want to move pragmatically, not speculatively, this assessment is designed for you.

What We Assess

The assessment evaluates the five critical dimensions required for practical AI adoption:

1

AI Opportunity & Business Alignment

We map your business goals against proposed AI use cases, assess their ROI potential, and confirm executive and organizational alignment. This is where we identify what's actually worth building, and align the AI Roadmap to tangible business outcomes before anyone writes a single line of code.

Output: Prioritized AI opportunities
2

Data Readiness

We examine data availability, quality, consistency, definitions, and lineage across your key data domains. Poor data is the most common reason AI projects underperform. This dimension shows you exactly where you stand.

Output: Data readiness score
3

Process, Governance & Risk

We review data ownership, policies, controls, compliance considerations, and auditability. This is the governance layer that determines whether AI outputs can be trusted and acted on.

Output: Governance maturity assessment
4

Technology & Architecture

We assess your data platform capability, integration maturity, automation readiness, and AI tooling feasibility. Many companies are closer to ready than they think. Some aren't. Following the AI Readiness assessment, you'll know.

Output: Architecture gap analysis
5

People

Technology doesn't drive adoption; people do. We evaluate your team's AI literacy, skills gaps, and change management readiness so the roadmap we build is one your organization can actually execute.

Output: People and training recommendations

Frequently Asked Questions

1What is included in this assessment

This is a practical assessment, not just a set of strategy slides. We analyze your technical architecture, data readiness, IT/Operation/Governace processes, and align strategy to business objectives. Based on the realistinc currents state we also align the assessment to your actual business goals and operational priorities.

The result is an actionable plan, not a generic AI presentation full of buzzwords.

Most AI readiness assessments stay at a very high level. Ours goes deeper into the factors that actually determine whether AI will work in your organization: data quality, governance, integration, ownership, processes, and people readiness.

You have a clear understanding of where you stand today, what gaps exist, and a realistic roadmap you can execute against.

2Who is this assessment built for?

It is built for companies in retail, logistics, healthcare, insurance, financial services, and manufacturing that see the potential of AI but are looking for solid plan how to proceed not sure where to begin.

We will understand business objectives, technical priorities and will bild comprechensive roadmap going forward.

Assessment Process

We use a combination of interviews, JAD sessions, workshops, and interactive business exercises to build a common understanding of the current state, define the future vision, and create a practical roadmap for how to get there.

3Do we need an internal AI or data science team to do this?

Not at all. most of the companies that come to us do not have one ye, or have somebody else working part time as data sciencist. That is usually the whole reason they reach out. You do not need to hire anyone or build anything before we start. That comes after, when you actually know what you need.

4What exactly does the assessment evaluate?

We evaluate the areas that typically determine whether AI initiatives succeed or stall after the initial excitement.

That includes, but not limited to:

  • Your business goals and where AI can realistically help
  • The quality, accessibility, and trustworthiness of your data
  • Governance, security, and compliance readiness
  • Your current technology and architecture
  • Business processes and operational maturity
  • Team readiness, alignment, and adoption

The assessment is designed to give you a practical understanding of what is working, where the gaps are, and what needs to happen before AI can deliver reliable results at scale.

Most organizations do not struggle because they lack AI tools. They struggle because of disconnected data, unclear ownership, weak governance, or processes that are not ready to support AI in production.

5What will we receive at the end of the engagement?

You will receive a practical AI Readiness Assessment report designed for both business and technology leadership teams.

The deliverables include:

  • A clear assessment of your current state across data, technology, governance, processes, and organizational readiness
  • A realistic view of where AI can provide value for your business
  • Recommended business objectives and prioritized AI use cases
  • A phased roadmap showing how to move from the current state to the desired future state
  • A detailed short-term action plan covering the next 3 months to 1 year
  • A higher-level strategic roadmap for the next 3 years
  • Budget and investment considerations, including what it may realistically take to achieve the target state

The goal is not to produce another slide deck that sits on a shelf. The goal is to give your organization a clear, actionable path forward with practical next steps, priorities, and decision points.

6How do we know which package fits our organization?

One conversation is usually enough. In about 30 minutes we get a good sense of your situation, your goals, and how complex your environment is. From there we can tell you exactly which option makes sense. And there is no commitment attached to that first call.

7Why go through an assessment before investing in AI implementation?

Because the number one reason AI projects fail is not the technology. It is that the data was not ready, the governance was weak, or nobody was clear on the business case. By the time most companies figure that out they have already spent serious money. This assessment costs a fraction of that and tells you the full picture before you commit to anything bigger.
