Not only do business users not have tool envy, they probably don’t even want to hear you talk about them. Tools and technology are not first and foremost in their minds – their business needs are what matter most.
Jerri Ledford eloquently reminds us of this in her post Technology is not equal to business intelligence. Business intelligence is all about the business, not the technology.
Working with the business group’s “power users,” however, can muddy this issue. Unlike the rest of the business users, they do love tools and technology. But just because the member of the business group you see the most is the power user, don’t forget that the rest of the crew thinks that any tool that requires training is too hard to use.
